Painting for the Wind / Sheep Piece

Painting for the Wind

—Shin Yu Pai

Write down your favorite words
on separate scraps of paper.
Leave the paper where there is wind.
The scraps of paper can be lottery receipts,
business cards, or paper napkins.

Sheep Piece

—Shin Yu Pai

Borrow a herd of sheep,
one hundred in number or more
spray paint their fleece
with your favorite words.
Watch from a distance as the sheep
arrange themselves into a poem.

The first is inspired by Yoko Ono, the second by Henry Moore. I particularly like (especially in the second) the play between singular and plural, between individual and collective identity.
